
Western Australia has endured another devastating week on its roads as several serious crashes and fatalities pushed the State’s road toll to 100 just six months into the year.
Latest figures from the Road Safety Commission reveal 100 lives have been lost in WA so far, with a shocking 17 pedestrians.
There have been three pedestrian incidents in the first week of June alone, with one claiming the life of a 35-year-old man.
By the same time last year, 87 lives had been lost on WA roads, but 2026 is already tracking 13 fatalities higher.
On Tuesday, a 15-year-old girl was struck by a car when she stepped out from behind a bus in Malaga. She is still fighting for her life in hospital.

Sign upEarly Wednesday morning, in Kewdale, an extreme case of road rage unfolded at the intersection of Leach Highway and Abernethy Road. Police say two men, who knew each other, were involved in a physical fight before using their vehicles as weapons.
Both drivers are now facing a string of charges and were denied bail when they appeared before a magistrate on Thursday.
The same day, four-year-old Layna Leavy was killed in a crash at the intersection of Garden Street and Boardman Road in Canning Vale about 3.15pm.
And on Thursday, a Transperth bus veered across the median strip on Joondalup Drive and crashed into a tree, killing 61-year-old passenger Rooney Taua, leaving a 59-year-old woman in a serious but stable condition in hospital, and seven others injured.

Hours later, about 5pm, a silver Holden Captiva collided with a Ford Territory on Wanneroo Road in Hamersley, causing the Territory to roll onto its roof and side, smashing the windscreen. Both drivers walked away uninjured.
In Malaga, just before 7pm, a red Mazda carrying a father and son became airborne after being clipped by a turning ute, before landing on its roof. Both escaped without serious injury.
The same night, chaos erupted in Ellenbrook, when a 38-year-old man allegedly tore through residential streets just after 9pm, performing burnouts that sent sparks flying after a tyre burst, before crashing into a tree.

At the same time, less than 4km away in Aveley, a police pursuit was unfolding. A Ford Falcon was seen speeding before losing control and crashing into a light pole. The 19-year-old driver allegedly fled on foot but was later arrested.
A search of the car allegedly uncovered cannabis, drug paraphernalia and suspected stolen property.
Also on Thursday St John of God Murdoch Hospital was forced to shut its emergency department after a vehicle crashed into the emergency entrance. A 73-year-old man was hit and remains in a stable condition in hospital.

On Friday, just after 12.30pm in Bassendean, a 35-year-old pedestrian was hit by a white and silver Mitsubishi tray top ute on Jackson Street. He has since died in hospital.
Later that night in Carramar, residents woke to a trail of destruction after a black Mercedes-Benz hatchback left the road on Balladong Loop just before midnight, crashing into parked cars and caravans.
On Saturday morning in Leederville, a Mazda hatchback crashed into a BottleMart on the corner of Oxford and Bourke streets.

A man, woman and young boy were inside the vehicle; the man escaped injury, while the woman and child were taken to Joondalup Health Campus for observation.
