
A glittering crowd converged on Crown Perth on Thursday night for the West Australian of the Year Awards.
Some of WA’s most glamorous and accomplished people walked the red carpet ahead of the gala event.
Joining the Celebrate WA Board at the fun, feelgood event was Premier Roger Cook and co-patrons the Governor of WA Chris Dawson AC APM and his wife Darrilyn.
The seven category winners will form the short list for the 2026 Western Australian of the Year.
Previous Western Australian of the Year Awards recipients include Brother Olly Pickett AM (2025) and Damien Oliver (2024).
Finalists in the seven categories this year include paediatric oncologist Professor Nick Gottardo in the Woodside Energy Professions category, Jim Giumelli in the Chamber of Minerals & Energy WA Business Award, Rhonda Marriott, Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the Ngangk Yira Institute for Change at Murdoch University, in the Wesfarmers Aboriginal Award category and Lucky Oceans in the Crown Arts & Culture Award.
The Channel 7 Sport Award Finalists are international cricketer Alana King, two-time Olympic gold medallist and sailor Matthew Wearn OAM and Stephen Michael, one of WA’s most celebrated Australian Rules footballers and a celebrated community leader.
